In just the last few months, states such as Alabama, Missouri, and Georgia have passed laws banning nearly all abortions, under nearly all circumstances. Some of the laws that state legislatures are considering are so draconian that they do not allow for abortions even in case of rape, incest, or when the mother’s health is at risk.

The states that have passed these laws know that they are entirely unconstitutional. But because Mitch McConnell and Cory Gardner have been stacking the Supreme Court with ultra-conservative judges, they now believe that they are close to overturning or greatly restricting the rights set out in Roe v. Wade.

We cannot allow a minority of Americans to take away the basic reproductive rights of American women. The Republicans are only one open Supreme Court seat away from a conservative supermajority on the Court, one that would set back our progress not just on women’s rights, but so many other issues.

This is one of the most critical reasons why we must defeat Cory Gardner, regain Democratic control of the U.S. Senate, and stem the tide of Donald Trump’s dangerous judicial appointments. And we must replace Gardner with a Senator who believes strongly in a woman’s fundamental right to choose. John Walsh believes in that right. And because he believes that the right to choose should not be taken away from any woman based on their means, he would also vote to repeal the Hyde Amendment.

John is uniquely qualified to fight for these crucial rights in the U.S. Senate. He brings decades of experience in the federal judicial system to this fight -- he has spent his professional lifetime in the federal courts as a trial lawyer and has argued dozens of appeals. He knows how to ask a question and how to cross-examine witnesses. He understands the federal courts, the federal judicial nomination process and the federal justice system, and he will bring those skills to the hard work of protecting women’s reproductive rights in the U.S. Senate.
